When you want to live a quiet life, some cities make this difficult, and cities make it much easier. No one moves to New York City thinking that they’ll have a lot of quiet. However, there are some cities in the world that people do move to to have those benefits.

According to CompareTheMarket, these are the best cities in the world for having all the peace you need.

Graz, Austria

With just under 300,000 people, this is a city with quick access to Austria’s breathtaking countryside. It has a laid-back vibe with a high number of yoga studios per 100,000 people. It has an especially high peace score.

Canberra, Australia

In a country with a chill vibe, this is a city that echoes it. It has low crime and a low degree of traffic congestion so even your commute can be peaceful. It has a huge number of walking trails and a national park.

Zurich, Switzerland

Switzerland is known for being peaceful, and this town has the lowest crime rate of all the cities on this list. It also has access to both mountains and calming Lake Zurich for peaceful activities.

Sydney, Australia

This city has the most walking trails of all the cities on the list. It also has a low number of clubs and bars per capita. Many beautiful beaches give you something peaceful to do during much of the year.

Helsinki, Finland

With its many yoga studios and walking trails, the residents here know how to have a low-key good time. It has an amazing national park nearby with forests and ravines to explore. It’s also close to shallow beaches perfect for swimming.

Vienna, Austria

This is a major city with a slower pace of living. It ranks highly for being peaceful, and it has a lot of small coffee shops that are perfect for getting away from the city. It also has the Danube for serene walks along the banks.

Brno, Czechia

This city has quick access to vineyards that stretch across the countryside. The city has a high number of per-capita yoga studios and a population of just under 400,000 for a slower way of life.

Munich, Germany

This picturesque city has the second-lowest crime rate of all these cities. It has an urban green area that’s larger than Central Park. It features a lake, manicured gardens, and plenty to do to get away from it all within the city.

Copenhagen, Denmark

This charming and historic city has the highest score for peace of all these cities. It’s the capital, but it has a low rate of traffic congestion and plenty of peaceful spots to spend time in. It’s also close to the beach for sunny days spent by the water.

Stockholm, Sweden

In Stockholm, there’s a small number of bars and clubs for every 100,000 people for some quiet. It also has hundreds of walking trails and an archipelago that features more than 3,000 beautiful islands.

Some cities welcome visitors and want them to be there. Other cities are rude to visitors and would just as soon see you leave. It can be jarring to be in an unfriendly city, though some of the world’s most enticing cities rank high on the rudeness scale.
