10 Beers Americans Can’t Stop Guzzling

Each generation has its favorites when it comes to everything from apps to restaurants. They have clear preferences for certain beers as well. Boomers, Gen Xers, and Millenials each have favorite beers that are their go-to beverage for a night out.

According to Visual Capitalist, these are the most popular beers for each of these generations. 

Heineken, Guinness, and Guinness

In the number one spot for Millenials is Heineken by a large margin – 60%. As their number one choice, both Gen Xers (57%) and Boomers (49%) prefer to drink the dark, room-temperature beer Guinness.

The next choice for Millenials, by 59%, is to reach for a cold Modelo. Both Gen Xers (49%) and Boomers (48%) would rather order a Heineken or to pick up a pack of them for a cozy night in.

All three of these generations have Corona as their third choice. After all, it’s light, fun, and easy to drink. Millennials prefer it by 59%, Gen Xers by 49%, and Boomers by 48%.

Millennials prefer Corona Extra by 58% for its lively taste. Gen X would rather have a Modelo by 47%. For Boomers, the easy choice by 46% is a good old-fashioned Samuel Adams.

Millennials are next interested in Corona Light by 58%. Gen Xers are taking a page from the Boomer book and ordering Samuel Adams at a rate of 47%. Boomers are fans of good old reliable Coors by 43%.

Millennials are sipping on a lot of White CLaws these days, preferring it by 56%. Gen Xers are happy with a Stella Artois in hand by 46%. Boomers are all about that Miller by 38%.

The seventh most-liked beer for millennials is Guinness by 55%. Gen Xers are into Corona Extra by 45%. Boomers prefer the rich taste of Michelob Light by 38%.

For Millenials, their next choice is the bold taste of Stella Artois with 55%. About 44% of GenXers would choose Corona Light. Boomers would reach for a Miller Light by 37%.

Reliable Budweiser is the next choice for 54% of Millenials who crave a beer. Gen Xers have always liked doing their own thing, and they would choose Blue Moon by 43%. Among Boomers, 37% are interesting enough to want a Dos Equis. 

Miller, Miller, and Stella Artois

About 54% of Millenials would choose a Miller when they want a cold one. Among Gen Xers, about 41% would next want a Miller as well. Boomers, however, would choose a Stella Artois by 37%.
