Most people have heard the famous saying that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” However, not everyone follows this philosophy, and many people make lunch the first meal of their day. In fact, as many as 25% of Americans skip breakfast almost every day.

If that’s you, then you probably want to read on as we discuss all the signs of how skipping breakfast on a regular basis could negatively impact your health. If you suffer from any of these symptoms, perhaps you need to consider whether skipping breakfast is right for you.

1. You Overeat at Lunch

If you skip breakfast, you’ll probably be extra hungry when lunchtime comes around. This may actually lead you to overeat at lunchtime, and this is not going to make your afternoon very easy. You may go into a food coma and feel ultra tired when your body is trying to digest all the food that you gulped down at lunch.

2. Afternoon Energy Dips

If you find that your energy is dipping in the afternoon and it’s getting to a point where you find it difficult to complete everyday tasks, then you may want to stop skipping breakfast.

3. Headaches

No one likes a headache, but if you regularly skip breakfast and regularly suffer from headaches, you may need to consider cutting back on doing this.

4. Impaired Sleep

If you are eating at weird times of the day or skipping breakfast, then you may suffer from impaired sleep. This could be due to several factors, but perhaps the most important one is that you are getting glucose spikes at weird times of the day, which can, in turn, affect your sleep.

5. Digestive Issues

If you are experiencing indications of digestive issues, then this may be another sign that you should stop skipping breakfast. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) may be one of the most prominent digestive disorders to stem from skipping breakfast. One can try to incorporate high-fiber foods such as whole grains or fruits for breakfast to remedy this.

6. Brain Fog

There’s nothing wrong with craving particular foods from time to time, but if your cravings are super intense and impact your daily life, then perhaps you need to stop skipping breakfast. When you skip breakfast, your body doesn’t get any nutrients or energy in the early hours of the day, and this could lead to food cravings later on.

8. Undesired Weight Loss
