8 Affordable U.S. Beach Vacations That Won’t Break the Bank

If you want to enjoy a coastal getaway but don’t want to break the bank, then look no further. There are several stunning and affordable beach towns across the U.S. that won’t send you into a spiral of debt when you visit them. These beach vacation destinations in the U.S. are still on the cheaper side of things. 

1. Fort Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale is a beautiful beach town with a tropical feel. This place has a bit of everything, from mermaid performances to full moon parties to nighttime Everglades tours. If you enjoy activities such as birdwatching, horseback riding, and nature parks, then this would also be an ideal destination for your next frugal vacation.

2. Tybee Island, Georgia

If you want an island getaway just 20 minutes from Savannah’s downtown area, Tybee Island is the place to be. With three miles of shimmering beaches and swaying palm trees, this is a destination with the ultimate laid-back, low-key vibes.

3. Gulf Shores, Alabama

Alabama isn’t exactly known for its beaches but rather for the hot and humid summers and delicious southern food. Mind you, the Gulf Shores may change this narrative if more people manage to visit this budget-friendly destination. 

4. Virginia Beach, Virginia

When you visit Virginia Beach, you have the choice to either grab some sundowners while the sun goes down over the sun-kissed ocean or even do a sunset dolphin kayaking tour. If that doesn’t tickle your fancy, then you can stroll down the three-mile boardwalk. 

5. Old Orchard Beach, Maine

If you want to go somewhere that’s got an old-town feel with a modern twist, then Old Orchard Beach in Maine might just be the right fit for you. There is an oceanfront amusement park to keep youngsters entertained, and for those who want to enjoy good views, there’s a gorgeous pier that stretches 500 feet over the ocean and is packed with all sorts of restaurants. 

6. Folly Beach, South Caroline

South Carolina’s Folly Beach is located in the quaint town of Charleston. It is known for its pastel-painted downtown region, which is filled with renowned restaurants, elegant stores, and even rooftop pools at some of the area’s high-end hotels.

Charleston is not exactly known for being cheap, but this changes when one moves to the Folly Beach zone. With this destination, you have a choice to spend some days more lavishly and others on a tighter budget if you wish to move between the two areas. 

7. Westport, Washington

Westport, Washington, is one of the surfing hotspots in the U.S. In addition to surfing, one can also enjoy all the dining and other activities that this town offers. The Grays Harbor Lighthouse, located here, also offers some of the most breathtaking views. 

8. Destin, Florida

Destin is a coastal gem nestled along the Emerald Coast in Florida. The region offers a wide range of natural beauty, including sugar-white sand beaches and crystal-clear ocean waters.
