Grocery stores are where we get everyday needs for food and household items, but there are all kinds of oddities you can find in any grocery store. Okay, maybe not any grocery store, but a lot, including some of the biggest names.

These strange but wonderful foods may raise your curiosity or trigger your “ick reflex,” but enough people like them that there’s a market for them. Let’s check some of them out!

Donut Burgers

There are actually two varieties at work here. The first is using donuts, with glazed being the most popular choice, as the bun. The other is a donut-shaped hamburger patty. Then you can use donuts, bagels, or regular buns to complete the sandwich.

Spicy Salmon Waffle Cones

Salmon is great. Waffle cones are great. But some things just don’t seem that great together, and this is an example. Still; we’re not judging; you do you.

Gin-And-Tonic-Flavored Salmon

Speaking of salmon, we’ve heard that you can find it flavored like gin and tonic. Maybe this is a good compromise if you love gin and tonic but are cutting back on the real thing. Otherwise, why not just eat some salmon first and then have your favorite drink afterward?

Single Shrimp

Shrimp is delicious, but it isn’t cheap. Maybe that’s what someone had in mind when you see a package that has exactly one piece of shrimp in it; you get to enjoy shrimp without spending a lot. Or maybe it’s just an automated packaging error.

Individual Cheese Slices

You’ll see these, too, and we don’t mean ordering a single slice at the deli counter; we mean packaged and sealed. Maybe this is for someone on the go who just needs a single slice to go with lunch. Where do they keep the individual bread and meat slices?

Interesting Meat Options

Economical and responsible meat producers know that not a single bit of the animal should go to waste. That’s why you can find things like cow’s tongue and brains, pig’s feet, and other odd meat items in many stores. They may gross some people out, but they wouldn’t be their of someone, somewhere, didn’t love them.

Pork Patties With Gummy Bears

No, gummy bears are not a side item; they’re actually mixed in with raw ground pork. A different take on sweet and savory, this is totally not a made-up food.

As far as taste and ingredients go, they’re no different than any other salad with ham in it. Maybe shaping it like a pig is more likely to entice people who love ham. But it could be an uncomfortable reminder for people who love meat but feel guilty about how it’s produced.

Filet Mignon is the prized meal for many beef lovers. However, it isn’t cheap, not even in big grocery stores. You can find turkey mignons in many stores, and although they aren’t nearly as tender as filet mignons are, they’re cheaper, tasty, and a lot less fatty. You can often find them wrapped in bacon.
