6 Indulgent Snacks That Are Healthier Than You Think

Who doesn’t love a good snack? And particularly one that feels kinda like you’re cheating on your diet? Well, you’ll be happy to know there are many snacking choices that are healthier than you think—and we’re here to share six guilt-free examples with you.

Dark Chocolate

Dark chocolate satisfies your sweet tooth but also has a remarkable number of health benefits! It’s rich in antioxidants and is a much healthier option than milk chocolate or other sweet treats. For dark chocolate that packs the most health punch, look for options that have at least 70% cocoa content. Couple it with a cup of coffee, and you’re off to an incredible morning.

Popcorn

Popcorn is misunderstood, thanks to it being associated with movies as a salty, buttery movie theater snack. But it’s actually a nutritional powerhouse! Popcorn has lots of fiber but doesn’t contain many calories, so it’s perfect for those who want a guilt-free snack—provided you aren’t doing the same amount of butter pumping they are at your local theater. Try seasoning your popcorn with nutritional yeast for a cheesy alternative or with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar if you want something akin to caramel corn!

Greek Yogurt Parfait

If you’re looking for a snack that feels indulgent but is actually a health hero, look no further than a Greek yogurt parfait. Layer some creamy Greek yogurt with fresh fruits and a sprinkle of granola, and you’re done! You’ve got a snack or quick breakfast that’s as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate. Make your own granola at home for even more control over the flavor and health factors.

Apples and Nut Butter

Apples and peanut butter are a snacking staple. And fortunately, it’s one that provides protein, healthy fats, and fiber. You don’t have to stick with peanut butter, either. Almond or even pistachio butter are fun takes on a classic. If you aren’t a big fan of apples or it’s not the season for them, you could always do nut butter with celery, though that’s veering into vegetable territory, which is hard to call an indulgence!

Avocado Toast

Ah, the millennial staple: avocado toast. This trendy snack is not just for Instagram influencers; it’s also a nutritious option that’s packed with healthy fats, fiber, and vitamins. Plus, you can top it with anything from poached eggs to cherry tomatoes, making it as indulgent or healthy as you want. We recommend trying toppings like balsamic glaze, feta cheese, or chili flakes. Not necessarily all at once, but we encourage you to choose your own adventure!

Frozen Yogurt Bark

If you’re looking for a sweet treat that feels like dessert but is actually good for you, frozen yogurt bark is your answer! Simply spread Greek yogurt on a baking sheet, sprinkle it with your favorite toppings (think berries, nuts, or dark chocolate chips), and freeze. Break it into pieces, and you’ve got yourself a deliciously indulgent snack.
