Everyone enjoys their meals just the way they like it. When ordering in for dinner, personal preferences abound. People have specific requests and most Americans have a lot of the same choices. The 2024 Uber Eats Craving Report revealed fascinating insights into how Americans tailor their orders.

Let’s look at the top 10 most popular delivery requests this year.

No Onions, Please

The request to remove onions topped the list of customization requests this year. Many customers prefer their meals onion-free due to their strong flavor or texture. This trend spans dishes from burgers to salads, showing that onion aversion is widespread.

Nix the Tomatoes

Tomatoes aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, making “no tomatoes” a common request. Some diners find them too slimy, while others just dislike the taste. This trend has forced restaurants to ensure their dishes remain flavorful without the bright red fruit. Whether burgers or salads, ditching tomatoes has become a top way to personalize meals.

Add Extra Sauce

Extra sauce is a must for flavor enthusiasts, making this a popular request. Customers want to ensure their meals pack a punch from creamy ranch to tangy BBQ. It’s a small adjustment that can dramatically enhance a meal.

Make It Spicy

For those who love a kick, “make it spicy” has become a go-to customization. Whether adding jalapeños, chili flakes, or hot sauce, spice lovers want their meals to bring the heat. This trend spans cuisines, from spicy Thai curries to heat-packed pizzas. Restaurants are finding new ways to accommodate this, with many offering scalable spice levels.

Well Done

The preference for well-done food, especially meats, remains a popular request. Many diners prefer their burgers, steaks, or even fries cooked to a crispier finish. While it can mean longer cooking times, the result is a texture and flavor many customers crave. No Cheese

As awareness of lactose intolerance grows, “no cheese” requests have skyrocketed. Many customers either avoid dairy for health reasons or dislike the texture of melted cheese. This trend is especially prevalent in burgers and sandwiches, where cheese is often a default topping.

With Fries

Fries remain an iconic comfort food, and adding them to orders is a common request. Whether paired with a sandwich, burger, or salad, fries are a universal sidekick. Customers love their versatility, as they can be plain, seasoned, or smothered in toppings.

Leave off the Veggies

Vegetable aversion is alive and well, with many customers asking for them to be left off. This trend often applies to leafy greens, pickles, or other toppings that some diners find overpowering. Restaurants comply, and customers can focus on the flavors they love most.

Drinks With No Ice

“Hold the ice” is a request that’s gaining momentum as customers aim for more beverage bang for their buck. Many believe ice takes up too much space, reducing the actual amount of drink they receive. This trend has been especially popular with iced coffees and sodas.

No Mushrooms

Mushrooms are a love-it-or-hate-it ingredient, making “no mushrooms” a frequent ask. While some diners adore the earthy flavor, others can’t stand the texture or taste. This request is common with pizzas, pasta dishes, and even soups.

The “Sell by” date on food packaging tells how long the food can stay on shelves, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s when it expires. On the other hand, the “Best by” or “Use by” date is something to really pay attention to.

Some foods can be fine well past that date, but others don’t, and consuming them can lead to food poisoning, a trip to the hospital, or worse. Following are some foods you should never consume after they expire.
