Part of what makes dieting so challenging is the effort required to focus on what you’re eating. With lives that get busier every day, it’s easy to pick up something unhealthy just because it’s fast!

Hydrate

Staying hydrated is fantastic for your body overall. But more than that, drinking enough water can help stave off those snack cravings. Keep a water bottle handy and hydrate first before you reach for the chip bag.

Keep Healthy Snacks on Hand

Healthy snacks like nuts, fruit, or even pre-cut veggies should always be in your home to prevent cravings for the crispy, salty snacks that wreck your dieting plans.

Buy Frozen Veggies

Frozen vegetables require less prep time than fresh vegetables. For many people, this removes the barrier to entry and helps them include more fruits and veggies in their diet.

Eat Mindfully

Mindful eating involves eating slowly and paying closer attention to your hunger cues. It doesn’t require you to change your diet; just to focus on why you’re eating and pump the brakes with some self-awareness.

Use Smaller Plates

Trick yourself into portion control by putting meals or snacks on small plates! And if you aren’t already, put your snacks on plates rather than eating them out of the container or bag.

If you’re making something healthy that reheats or freezes well, make extra and enjoy it later! This will help on days when you just don’t feel like cooking, eliminating the urge to open your food delivery apps and get something much more unhealthy.
