12 Weirdest Ice Cream Flavors (That You Can Actually Buy)

Do you love ice cream but find yourself a little bored with the regular flavors at the grocery store and chain ice cream shops? You may need to buy a plane ticket, go on a road trip, or pay extra shipping fees, but there are a lot of truly unique and wild flavors out there.

It’s a small price to pay for delicious ice cream!

Strawberry Balsamic

This flavor started out with a cult following in Portland, OR. Now, it’s a national hit, and the maker, Salt & Straw, has expanded to Los Angeles, Miami, and Disney World. Don’t want to make a trip like that? You can have it shipped.

Earl Grey

Made by Van Leeuwen, this ice cream is available at multiple locations and also is available by shipping. They make it by steeping the namesake tea in whole milk, and then cream, eggs, and sugar become part of the mix.

Lavender Honey

You’ll need to make a trip to Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream in Columbia, MO, to get this one. Other unique flavors found at Sparky’s include Banana Nutella and Mandarin Orange Dark Chocolate.

Garlic

Do you love garlic? Make a journey to Gilroy, CA, which bills itself as the garlic capital of the world. Once there, you’ll find more than one shop selling garlic-flavored ice cream, and you’ll find garlic as a star in many other foods as well.

Vietnamese Coffee

Plano, TX, is a little north of Dallas and is home to the wildly popular local creamery Churn and Bake. In college, the owner tried Vietnamese coffee for the first time and instantly loved it. It became an inspiration for making this ice cream flavor in homage to it.

Olive Oil

There are already plenty of reasons to visit Naples, Italy. Now you can add another to your list. At the highly regarded L’antica Pizzeria da Michele, you can enjoy this dessert after a delicious pizza or pasta dish. The chef tops it with olive oil and sea salt.

Salted Lemon

In Hollywood, the Lemon Grove is a rooftop restaurant at the Aster Hotel & Member Club. The chef worked with actress/singer Selena Gomez to create this flavor in recognition of her love of lemons.

Screw Pine

 

Never heard of this? It’s a fruit grown in Maldives that resembles a pineapple but tastes more like mango. After a day of enjoying the stunning beaches and clear blue waters, head to the Six Senses Laamu resort to try screw pine flavored ice cream at the ice cream parlor there.

Cereal Milk

 

If you love the delicious taste of the milk left after you finish a bowl of cereal, you’re far from alone. The people at Milk Bar decided to make an ice cream with that flavor, and you can get it at one of their locations or have it shipped.

Flamin’ Hot Cheetos

Marble Slab, TX, is home to the Marble Slab Creamery, which now has 250 locations across Texas and the Southeast. They make this flavor by mixing crushed Flamin’ Hot Cheetos through the ice cream.

You know how at some hot wings bars you have to sign a waiver to try the hottest, spiciest offerings? At Sunni Sky’s in Angier, NC, you have to do the same if you want a taste of this ice cream, which contains three different hot peppers and two different hot sauces. Some fans call it “frozen fire.”

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese

Mac & cheese for dessert? Why not? This is another flavor made by Van Leeuwen, which is based in Brooklyn but has locations nationwide. Originally, this was a limited release, but now it’s back!
